Performance History

K.R. and Norma Reinshcmidt

Eighteen years ago my wife and I started an incredible adventure. We purchased an existing Chevrolet franchise in Mountain Home, Idaho. Not only did we have a business to operate and grow, but a very young family to support.

The business we purchased in April of 1989 was reflective of the 1950’s. The building was heated with coal. There was no hot water in the building except the steam cleaner. We had no air conditioning in the facility, and years of black soot had accumulated because of the coal heater. Probably the most remarkable aspect was the fact that the accounting was performed manually.

In 1993 we moved to a new 20,000 square foot facility that was built originally in 1979 as an International Harvester tractor dealership. Not a single year has gone by in which we have not remodeled our facility. In January of 2002 we purchased the GMC, Pontiac, and Buick franchises and brought them into our business. The fall of 2004 we started an extensive remodel of the exterior of the facility which was completed May 2005.

I can tell you the overwhelming driving philosophy behind Performance is: "We treat our customers and employees with respect."

Most people outside the automotive business do not realize that as a GM franchise dealer we pay the exact same price for a vehicle as the dealer down the road. Even the shipping cost is the same for a dealer that is eighty miles from the factory or a dealer that is operating in Hawaii.

Month in month out, our business is comprised of 38-42% repeat and referral business. I believe this is a direct reflection on the "Relationship Selling" that we have at Performance. Even though we continue to grow and add new people to the payroll, the average length of employment of our thirty-two employees exceeds five years. Our sales consultants have been on a salary long before it was popular.

The pride of Performance has to be our service department. As owner of this company I am a rare individual: I came from the service side of the business. You will love the service here! Performance has recruited the best team of trained talent in the Northwest. When you walk in the door or call on the phone you feel that you are dealing with the local gas station mechanic that your family has trusted and relied on for generations. But we back it up with the best modern equipment and trained technical staff. You will be pleased how clean, timely, professional and thoughtful the entire experience will be.

There is a saying "You never know someone until you really get to know them." I speak for all our employees at Performance. We welcome you to our business and encourage you to get to know us. We are confident that you will like the way we conduct our business! We have worked very hard to earn the reputation of being honest, competitive and reliable in all our business dealings.

Enthusiastically yours,
K.R. and Norma Reinschmidt
